5 Books We Own But Haven’t Read Yet

Technically, this week’s 5 Fandom Friday is “5 Fandoms You Hold Dear But No One Ever Heard Of”, but we’re honestly too mainstream for that. Pretty much every fandom we’re in is very well known.

So we thought we’d change the topic. And because we are the kind of people that love buying books (or always get books for Christmas and birthdays) but don’t always have the time to read them, we thought we’d make a list of 5 Books We Own But Haven’t Read Yet.

1. The Children of Húrin, J.R.R. Tolkien

I’ve owned this book for quite a while now but haven’t managed to read it yet. Probably because I want to finish the other four books I am currently reading first before going back to Middle-Earth. So I can give my full attention to  the book that plays in one of my favorite fictional worlds. (-Frodo)

2. A Court of Thornes And Roses, Sarah J. Maas

I’m a little ashamed that I haven’t gotten around to reading that. I got it for my last birthday, but since then it’s been sitting on my shelf, collecting dust. Everytime I finally get around to start reading a new book, there’s always one that I want to read more, or I’m simply not in the mood for it. I hope that changes soon, because I loved Throne of Glass, and I really enjoy Sarah J. Maas’ writing.

3. Blood Song, Anthony Ryan

I only bought that this weekend, and I’m looking forward to reading it. But I have a couple of other things to read before that one, so it’s not a priority right now.

4. Fangirl, Rainbow Rowell

Frodo gave me this book for my birthday, but I have yet to read it. I don’t know why I haven’t yet; there’s always something else that I have to read first, for whatever reason. But now that we’ve made this list, I will get on reading all of these books as soon as I’m done with what I’m currently reading.

5. The Ambassador’s Mission, Trudi Canavan

This one we both own but have yet to read. We both loved Trudi Canavan’s other series, but for some reason, we haven’t gotten around to reading The Ambassador’s Mission. Maybe it’s because we read The Black Magician’s trilogy and Age of the Five when we were younger, and lost interest? Or maybe we’re just a bit scared that we won’t like it as much as we did the others? Or maybe we’re just lazy. It’s probably that. But who knows?

Update: I have now read both Fangirl and A Court Of Thorns And Roses – and even made it around to reading A Court Of Mits And Fury and fall completely in love with these books.

  1. If only there was more time in the week. Between my ever growing stacks of comics, books, games, movies and TV shows I would pretty much need to win the lottery to be able to quit my job and make getting fully caught up my job.

  2. I really loved both Fangirl and Court of Thorns and Roses. Fangirl was an obsessively good read. CoTaR was in the vein of a faery tale retelling with spunk and fire that I love.
